Caps, be it any season, make a statement—always!

If you’re stylish and like to pay attention about the way you look or present yourself—then you want to look great from head to toe. When we say accessories, the first thing that goes on in a man’s mind is the shoes, yes they are an extremely important part of a man’s attire, but what about the other extremity—your head?
While you might have the most flattering hairstyle known to a man—the reality is that your hair doesn’t always wake up on the right side of the bed. “Oh yes, there are plenty of times that I have had a bad hair day. Most of the times I tried fixing them up with gels and hairstyling products. But when my hair just wouldn’t surrender, I often try caps”, says Pratyush Pokharel, a BBA student currently studying at Stamford University, Bangkok.
I wouldn’t says caps are only for the bad hair day, but if you’re in need of a change, check out the different type of caps and hats you can put on.
The Baseball Cap
Baseball caps have evolved in terms of shape as well as style. Gone are the days when one wore favorite team’s caps; these are the days of unlimited patterns on baseball caps. This being said, you could always wear a New York Yankees hat, but if you want to make more of a statement, then wear a hat that has a different symbol. It doesn’t have to stand for anything, it could just be the name of the brand, stitched on to the hat (such as Polo Sport, Abercrombie & Fitch or Gap), or it could have a patch with a funky design. In any case, you want a cap that fits your head nice and snug, and you want it to eventually take your head’s shape.
Style Tips:
Make sure the colors go with your outfit
Don’t wear it backwards, unless you’re still 15
The visor
This is a trendier look, but it can look great when matched with the right outfit. A variation of the baseball cap, a visor is meant to be worn during warmer climate. Wear it with jeans or shorts, and a white T-shirt.
Style Tips:
Opt for a simple, uni-color visor.
Don’t wear it if you have a puffy head of hair.
Don’t choose one with flashing lights.
The bucket hat
This hat is summer’s hot trend. You can find it with either a stiff, small rim or a larger, floppier one (like a fisherman’s hat). Whatever the case, the bucket hat looks great when matched with a pair of chinos or jeans and a polo T-shirt, or simple drawstring shorts and a T.
The patterns and materials of these are endless. In terms of pattern, you can find them in either a floral print (with 2colors, such as blue and white); plaid, as Burberry has made so famous; or for more subtlety, with no pattern at all. Popular colors are beige or khaki, black, white, and navy; you can even go funkier with sky blue, orange or red, available by the brand that practically revolutionized hats.
As for fabrics, you can find bucket hats made of cotton, denim, or terry cloth.
Style Tips:
Don’t wear one with a pattern if your outfit is already busy.
Make sure its colors and fabric are consistent with the rest of your attire.
Bravo bandanas
If you don’t feel like wearing a hat, then you can go for a bandana (reminiscent of ‘80s punk rock bands). Just fold it several times and tie it around your head like a headband, only for men.
This should really be worn during the day, if you live in a warm climate and are going for that relaxed, “I don’t care how my hair looks” image, while still looking good (if it suits you).
Style Tips:
Stick to colors such as navy, black or red.
Perfect while on a vacation.
Hats and accessories aren’t for the every man, but you can find one that suits your face and your style. These hats are more appropriate for weekends, rather than for a day at the office. So whether you’re the casual conservative man or the trendsetter, treat your head to the latest fashion with a stylish cap.
