The classic Volkswagen Beetle for the first time in the history of Nepali films industry has been used as a style icon in ‘Brake Fail’. The much awaited film, which is already creating a stir in tinsel town for its different storyline and huge budget is packed with fun, claim its makers.

The comedy film directed by Shankar Ghimire and presented by Richa Ghimire revolves around con artists who are on the run after stealing the bug that makes their lives difficult because its brakes keep failing.
According to Ghimire, who also plays the lead actress in the film, a lot attention has been given to the look of the film.
“Brake Fail is a fun filled film so we have used a lot of bright colors and our styling team has put in a lot of effort to add fun elements to the movie,” she said, before adding that there were instances when they stopped shooting because the director and the styling agent and choreographer Renasha Rai weren’t satisfied with the look in the particular shot.
“During the shooting of the film, no shots were taken until the makeup artist, our styling agent and our director were completely satisfied with the makeup and apparel for each scene,” said actress Richa Ghimire while talking about the film that also happens be her first presentation.
While talking to L&T, the actress who has been in the film industry for nearly a decade explained that a lot goes into making a film look good. According to her, the reason most Nepali films don’t look upto the standard is because filmmakers tend to focus more on dialogue delivery than the look of the film.
“We have paid a lot of attention to cinematography, makeup, style and lighting and I can only hope the audience will like the effort we have put into making this film,” she said before adding that making of the film has crossed over NRs.10Mn till date.
Though the first half of the film was shot in Kathmandu and has a very urban feel to it, the post-intermission part it was shot in the Far Western Development Region of Nepal.
“We decided to shoot the film in Mahendranagar,Kanchanpur because we wanted to bring a Nepali feel to this very urban looking film,” said actor Puskar Bhattarai, while stating that this high budget film is the first ever Nepali film to venture into virgin destinations inside the country.
“We have shots where our actors are dancing amidst herds of Barasinghas,” said Bhattarai who plays a negative role in the film.
The Barasinghas that are commonly known as the twelve horned black deer are native to that region of Nepal and are hardly found anywhere else.
The film which is slated for release on 2 September also features actors Rajesh Hamal,Niraj Baral,Subash Thapa and Bimlesh Adhikari in the lead role. And it is definitely a must watch, assure its makers. But will this film really be worth a watch or will it end up being just another disappointing Nepali film? That is something we will just have to wait and watch.
