Packaged Laakhamari in the market

Kasthamandap Khadya Udyog, a food company providing traditional snacks and sweet, including “gwe” and “sayapata” for marriage ceremonies has introduced packed Laakhamari. Laakhamari is crunchy, flaky texture bread, prepared for ceremonial occasions in the Newar community. Making Laakhamari is a time consuming traditional culinary art and by providing the traditional treat in packages Kasthamandap has made it accessible to a larger mass. The laakhamari is made from pure ghee and lasts for at least a month at room temperature. Kasthamandap’s laakhamari is available in various outlets in Kathmandu, Biratnagar, Pokhara and Itahari and is set be introduced in India, USA and Canada.
